Our handcrafted rice vials are made through a process known as flameworking or lampworking with borosilicate glass rods and a torch. Each piece is fired overnight in our kiln to properly anneal and strengthen the glass.
When the vial is finished, we carefully write the chosen name on a grain of rice using very fine pens. The grain of rice is placed inside the vial along with oil and any decorations of your choice before being sealed and turned into a necklace, keychain, or charm.
